This Work Is Personal To Me

Memorial jewelry isn’t simply another part of my business. It is deeply personal to me.
The very first memorial piece I created was for my own mother, using the ashes of my Uncle Tony. Since then, I’ve made pieces for my cousins using the ashes of the family pets we grew up loving together, as well as keepsakes for pets I never knew personally but whose stories I’ve been trusted to carry for a little while.
I’ve also filled more hook pendants than I care to think about with the ashes of an eighteen-year-old cousin who left this world far too soon. Every one of those pieces carries the weight of a life that should have had so much more time, and the love of everyone who still misses them.
I’ve created memorial pieces using hair from my husband’s aunt, who treated me like her own family from the very first time we met. That piece carries a special kind of love and gratitude for someone who welcomed me so warmly and made me feel like I belonged.
Most recently, I had the honor—and the heartache—of creating pieces for my Nana and Bull, who raised me, using pieces of my late brother’s shirt.
Every story is different. Every person, animal, and relationship is unique. But each one is beautiful in its own way because of what they meant to the people who loved them.
So when I tell you that I understand how much trust it takes to place something irreplaceable in my hands, I truly mean it.
I know what it feels like when what’s inside that tiny package isn’t just ashes, a lock of hair, a little bit of fur, or a piece of fabric.
It’s them.
It may be breast milk, ashes, a collar, feathers, a favorite toy, hair, whiskers, or even a shed from a beloved reptile. It may be something small that someone else might not understand, but to you, it holds an entire relationship.
It’s the shirt you remember them wearing. The fur you used to run your fingers through without thinking. The collar that still feels like them. The toy they carried everywhere. The feathers, whiskers, or tiny shed that remind you of the life and personality they brought into your world.
It’s the person whose voice you would give anything to hear one more time. The pet whose little footsteps you still expect to hear around the corner. The animal whose habits, expressions, and presence became part of your everyday life.
These stories break my heart sometimes. I read your messages, learn their names, and hear about the lives they lived and the love they inspired. I hear about the people who raised you, the family members who welcomed you, the pets who grew up alongside you, and the animals who made your home feel more complete.
All these stories are different, and every one of them matters.
I carry those stories with me more deeply than I probably know how to express. It is incredibly meaningful to feel even a small part of what these people and animals meant to everyone who loved them.
And still, I’m incredibly thankful that you choose me to be a small part of something so important.
When your inclusions arrive here, I don’t see them as materials for an order. I handle them the way I would want someone to handle something belonging to my own brother, my family, or one of the animals I’ve loved.
Because for the little while they’re with me, that’s exactly how I treat them.
Like they’re one of mine.
There is an enormous amount of trust in sending a piece of someone you love to another person, and I will never take that lightly.
It is one of the greatest honors of what I do to take something so small, carrying a love so big, and turn it into something you can hold again.
Something you can wear.
Something you can reach for when you miss them.
Something that lets you keep just a little piece of them close.
